Welcome to Llamafin — the most powerful, feature-rich music player for Jellyfin. This guide will help you get up and running quickly.


What is Llamafin?

Llamafin is a cross-platform music player application that connects to your self-hosted Jellyfin media server. It provides a premium listening experience with:

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  1. A Jellyfin Server — Version 10.8.0 or later, running and accessible
  2. Your Media Library — Music content properly organised in Jellyfin

  4. Network Access — Your device must be able to reach your Jellyfin server

First Launch

1. Connect to Your Jellyfin Server

When you first open Llamafin, you'll be prompted to:

  1. Enter your server URL — e.g., https://jellyfin.yourdomain.com or http://192.168.1.100:8096 (local network)
  2. Enter your credentials — Your Jellyfin username and password (or use Quick Connect)
  3. Select your library — Llamafin will automatically detect your music libraries

2. Quick Connect (Alternative)

If your Jellyfin server supports Quick Connect:

  1. Select "Quick Connect" on the Llamafin login screen
  2. Enter the 6-digit code displayed on your Jellyfin server's Quick Connect page
  3. You're logged in — no password required

3. Initial Setup

After logging in, Llamafin will:

  • Fetch your music library structure
  • Cache album art and metadata
  • Apply default settings (dark theme, standard audio profile)
  • Check for network connectivity and speed

Basic Navigation

Home Screen

Your home screen displays:

  • Recently Played — Quick access to your latest listening history
  • Recently Added — New content from your library
  • Frequently Played — Your most-listened albums and artists

Library

Browse your entire music collection by:

  • Albums — With letter navigation (A-Z + #)
  • Artists — Sorted alphabetically
  • Songs — Individual track listing
  • Genres — Browse by music genre
  • Playlists — Your created and auto-generated playlists
  • Folders — Direct folder browsing from your server

Player

The player offers 5 viewing modes:

  • Cover — Album artwork with playback controls
  • Record — Spinning vinyl animation
  • Lyrics — Synchronised lyrics display
  • Visualiser — Butterchurn/MilkDrop or spectrum analyser
  • Turntable — Retro turntable Visualisation

Search across your entire library:

  • Online and offline search
  • Results in 5 categories: albums, artists, songs, playlists, genres
  • Voice search support
  • 20 pre-type suggestions

Downloads

Manage your offline content:

  • View all downloaded content

Troubleshooting

Can't connect to my Jellyfin server

  • Verify the server URL is correct
  • Ensure your device is on the same network (for local connections)
  • Check that your Jellyfin server is running (version 10.8.0+)
  • If using HTTPS, ensure the certificate is valid

Music won't play

  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify your Jellyfin server has the correct transcoder settings
